Puranas describe Kalki as an avatar who appears at the end of Kaliyuga. He is said to end the darkest, most chaotic times of Kaliyuga torestart a new cycle of time. in the Hindu mythology the trinity is all powerful- Brahma is a creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva is the destroyer. The nine avatars of Vishnu have been the most fascinating and are deeply influencing the Hinduism for thousand of years. Vishnu has been the preserver but there are times when he manifests himself as the destroyer especially in the 22nd avatar Lord Kalki, he is bound to come to end the age of darkness or the Kaliyuga due to the impact of Kali.
In Hinduism it is said that universe is comprised of four yugas i.e. Satyuga, Treta yuga, Duapar yuga, and Kaliyuga. Presently we are living in Kaliyuga and this period began after the battle of Kurukshetra around 5000 years ago. Hence approximately 4,27,000 of Kaliyuga are left before the arrival of Kalki. With the arrival of Kaliyuga, i.e. 3102 BC the lord Kroshna disappeared from earth , leaving behind him a golden age for mankind. This Golden era is predicted to end within 10,000 years untill the men supplant the legacy Krishna left behind. After the end of his legacy the human race will become corrupted and their humanity will be superceded by materialism and greed. People will stop believing the supremacy of god and the devotees of god will be completely prosecuted from the society.
Even the warriors of crime will become corrupted and their will be no solution for any crime no matter how brutal it is. Everyone will start fighting each other that will create a scene of war. The so called priests will also become corrupted and according to Kalki purana they will:-
“These fallen souls are very fond of dry arguments, and they use religion as a means of livelihood, teach Vedic knowledge as a profession, are fallen from the execution of their vows, and sell wine and other abominable things, including meat. They are cruel by nature and very fond of gratifying their bellies and genitals. For this reason, they lust after the wives of others and are always seen to be intoxicated.” (Knapp, 2016)
All this will result in the reincarnation of Kalki, riding on Devadutta i.e. his white horse, with sword in one hand to kill all the godless and sinners and his arrival will be marked as a blessing by few remaining holy people.
The reincarnation of Kalki in Hinduism is parallel to other religions like in Christianity it is said as "The second coming of Christ".
