Vitiligo is a T cell mediated autoimmune disease in which your immune system starts attacking its own melanin cells and destroys them. In vitiligo white patches starts to appear on the different parts of body. It is a disease in which your immune system starts attacking its own cells mistakenly which results in depigmentation. Their are various types of vitiligo some are focal that appear on a specific areas of the body whereas some may affect different areas of the body.
According to NCBI Worldwide incidence of 1% has been reported. The prevalence of vitiligo is high in India, varying in range of 0.46-8.8%. The different ethnic backgrounds of population residing in different geographic region with different environmental condition may contribute to the wide variation in prevalence of vitiligo in India. Out of 1,010 patients 57.3% are females and 42.7 % are males. Most vitiligo cases appear after age of 20.
Vitiligo is not a disease infact it is a disorder which is converted forcefully into a disease by the social and cultural stigmas prevalent in society especially in a developing country like India in which some consider this as a result of the sins of past life.I need an answer how a different kind of skin tone can be considered as a revenge of god?
From my point of view, some people treat the sufferers of vitiligo as if they are untouchables. They depict their lack of knowledge and poor mentality by these kind of poor recognitions.Vitiligo is not something that is spread by a mere touch, the only way in which it can be spread is by genetic means.
The society is not the only criticizer of the people suffering from vitiligo, sometimes peer are equally responsible for increase of mental trauma in these people. This disorder is not that severe but the emotional trauma associated with this is fatal because in our society beauty standards are fixed and even a slight deviation from that can make you odd in the world of evens. The collaboration of vitiligo with depression and inferiority complex makes this disorder a disease and sometimes these people just cage themselves due to fear of the society as we all have heard about Kkl theory i.e. "Kya kahege log". The story of some of the vitiligo patients does not end here ,for them the end is when these people get so much fed up of the social criticism of the society that they consider ending their life a better option and their story ends here.
As i have just said "This disorder is not that severe but the mental trauma associated with this is fatal", here are some successful examples when people considered vitiligo is nothing more than a rare skin tone:-
1)Winnie Harlow - Canadian fashion model
2)Michael Jackson-American singer, song writer and dancer ( King of pop)
3)Steve Martin-Comedy legend
4)Amitabh Bacchan - Shocked? Yes, even badshah of bollywood our very own Amitabh bacchan is said to have vitiligo however he never confessed it in public.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, according to me beauty lies in the eyes of beholder, do not consider yourself inferior just because of someone's mentality you are awesome the way you are.Your perfections and imperfections work together to make you unique. Learn to convert your weakness into strengths, i know the path is difficult but it is not impossible. Believe me no one and nothing in this entire sphere is perfect even the universe is filled with imperfections.Live healthy, try your level best to cure your disorder but do not let it be your weakness and do not let your skin tone determine your destiny.

Some people even prefer to get a tattoo on the affected part of the body. While natural methods includes yoga , meditation which decreases the stress because stress plays a major role in increasing vitiligo.
