Looks do matter, before we start having our meal or even if we go to a restaurant and order a dish the first and foremost fact that catches our eye on that dish is the way it looks and presentation, if it looks good then we have a notion that it will taste good as well. This might not be the right way to judge food before even tasting it but it is what it is and for our food to look good it should be presented in a beautiful crockery set, this will make it look even more tempting.

Buying a good piece of crockery is not everyone’s cup of tea, so here's a quick guide to buy crockery in India:-

1) Where will you use them?

The first and most important thing to consider while buying a crockery is the purpose for which you are buying it.We Indians even have a whole different section of crockery for guest and for every other occasion, For example-Whether you are going to buy it for daily use, for special occasions, or as a gift because if you are going to buy it for daily use then design could be simple with not too much of detailing, if you are buying it for special occasions then it could be with some extra detailing and decorations and if you are going to gift that then you are going to be judged by that so it has to be classy and timeless.

2) Shape and size

Basic round plates are timeless and best if you do not want to take a risk but if if you are into experimenting then playing with different shape and sizes is gonna be fun and involvement of different shapes and sizes will make your dinning table look much more extraordinary and beautiful if those shapes are used correctly and different sizes will be useful for serving different quantities. Along with the shape and sizes of crockery you can even decorate those table even more by pairing them with various available designs of table napkins online.

3) Preferred colour

Indians love to play with colours , the crockeries could could have dramatic, subtle or different combinations of colours though there is no such boundation but still if you follow certain rules like pairing light coloured crockery with dark coloured dinning table to refrain it from looking extra and vice versa or you can use patterned crockery if your dinning table is lightly shaded and subtle.

4) Occasion

Different type of crockery is used according to the occasion, subtle crockery is used in formal parties or occasions and a bit less subtle could be used in informal parties and occasions. Sets made of Bone China or porcelain work well for fancy parties on the other hand melamine is more suitable for informal occasions.

5) Type of crockery

There are various types of crockery crockery differentiated on the basis of material used such as:-

• Bone china crockery- They are strong and elegant with semi translucent white appearance which makes them perfect for formal parties .

• Porcelain crockery- These are affordable and durable, they are also used for formal parties.

• Stoneware-These are the ones that are mostly used in our houses on daily basis. These are heavy and they break easily by these are cheap and available in a variety of colours making them perfect for daily use.

• Melamine- These are not that affordable but ya these are strong and made up of high quality extra durable resin material.

6) Durability

Before buying any crockery you must always check whether it fits to your needs or not like they are microwave ,oven,dishwasher safe or not and Whether they are good for the occasion for which you are buying them or not etc.
