A 2000-year old i.e around 163 BC mummy was discovered in China firstly by the workers who were digging in south central China near Changsa, and they were mesmerized by immense wealth that was buried with the mummy of Lady of Dai i.e. Xin zui, things that were buried with Xin zui included a lot of luxury like makeup, artifacts, clothes,162 carved wooded artifacts that represented her servants and many things.
Beside all this luxury the fact that mesmerized everyone even more was that the mummy was so well-preserved that she still had her hair, eyelashes, and blood in her veins intact even her last meal that was melon and her A blood group can be assumed by scientists till date.
The tomb of Xin sui was a fully closed container which is one of the major reasons for the mummy being so preserved. Her body was wrapped properly in 20 layers of silk fabric and then it was preserved in a liquid that cannot be identified by the scientists till date, but it is said that the solution was slightly acidic with some traces of magnesium in it.
The mummy of Lady of Dai was discoved in 1971 and it was covered in layers of soil paste and charcoal and then it was fully sealed with clay that kept the body away from being in contact with oxygen because oxygen would have degenerated the body. The quality of the mummy is continuously diminishing because of its exposure with oxygen since it was discovered.
Body of Xin Zui is considered as one of the best preserved mummies of all times. The skin of Xin zui is still soft, the hair in her body such as her eyelashes and hair in her nostrils is intact till date, and the blood in her veins is still there and the seeds of melon were still there in her body which indicates that the last meal that she enjoyed were Melons. No one can say that it is a 2000-year-old mummy because its condition is much like a recent dead body.
The lady Dai was around 50 during the time of her death, and she was overweight and unfit due to lack of physical exercise probably. The reason for her death according to the scientists is cardiac arrest because of the accumulation of clots in her veins that are caused due to high level of cholesterol in body.
Lady Dai must have lived a life of luxury, and she was so pampered that can be clearly seen by how she was buried. Her burial had everything that a lady wants during her lifetime. Even a last meal for her was also kept with her body for her afterlife. It is believed by many people that the life does not end when a person dies, they believe that after death the deceased will enter the next phase of its life that is why ancient mummies were buried with enormous wealth, so that they can live an afterlife of luxury.
Many attempts to preserve mummies are made by their loved ones but lucky ones are those who succeeded in preserving their ancestors in the way they want them to be in after death.
